Dr Archie McGeorge
Dr Alison Pereira
Alison is one of New Zealand’s most experienced retina specialists with a particular
interest in macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease. She is a graduate of the
Royal College of Ophthalmologists in the UK, followed by medical retinal training in
Bristol (UK), Auckland and Sydney. More..
Assoc Prof Philip Polkinghorne
Philip specialises in retinal, vitreo-retinal and cataract surgery. He has subspecialty
training in both medical and surgical retina and is active in clinical and basic science research.
He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Auckland
and has teaching responsibilities for both undergraduate and post graduate students. More..
Dr Jo Sims
Jo graduated with a medical degree from the University of Auckland in 1999 before training in
general ophthalmology in Auckland and Hamilton. She then underwent two years of
post-fellowship subspecialty training in Singapore and Melbourne between 2006 and
2008 in the areas of medical retina and uveitis (inflammatory eye problems).
