Auckland Eye welcomes Dr Rachael Niederer. Dr Niederer will be running clinics once a week at Auckland Eye Remuera with her sub-speciality being uveitis and medical retina.

Upon returning to New Zealand she has been working at Greenlane, is a senior lecturer in ophthalmology at Auckland University and has won several medals for her research and teaching.

Rachael brings with her a wealth of knowledge in ophthalmology and has recently been doing research into Herpes Zoster, wanting to improve the outcomes, as in a recent study, involving  869 people who had the zoster virus, 1 in 10 lost their sight due to the disease.

Dr Niederer has a particular interest in up-skilling registrars and running courses, and she is the college representative for Auckland Ophthalmology trainees.
