Auckland Eye is incredibly excited to welcome Dr Shenton Chew to their Practice.

Dr Chew brings with him advanced experience in refractive cataract surgery and glaucoma care. During a recent two year glaucoma fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, Shenton obtained valuable expertise in complex glaucoma and cataract surgical techniques, including experience in the expanding field of minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) as well as the most current trabeculectomy and tube shunt techniques.

Shenton is also a consultant ophthalmologist at both Auckland District Health Board (ADHB) and Counties-Manuakau District Health Board (CMDHB). He has a strong interest in improving the efficiency and quality of Auckland's ophthalmology service, using his positions as the current chairman of the ADHB surgeon's meeting and spokesperson for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) to advocate for patients that need access to tertiary level ophthalmic care.

One of Shenton's key strengths is his ability to communicate in an empathetic manner that promotes understanding of the treatment offered. Shenton says "As clinicians we must remember to put ourselves in our patient's shoes.  What is routine for us is not the case for our patients and we tend to forget that at times". Appointments to see Shenton can be made by contacting our main reception on 529 2480 or request an appointment online

In Shenton's free time he like to keep active and enjoys hobbies such as tennis, golf, weight-training and snowboarding.  These days, however, much of his spare time is taken up by his young son Callum, who keeps Shenton and his wife Nola on their toes!

The shareholders of Auckland Eye are delighted that Shenton has decided to join Auckland Eye confirming  our ongoing commitment to our patients and referrers. We are looking forward to Shenton joining our team.

Appointments with Shenton can be made from Monday 28th August 2017.
