Last night we held our annual North Shore Insight evening at Auckland Eye's Takapuna clinic on Fred Thomas drive. After mixing and mingling with drinks and canapés, the evening officially begun with a presentation by Dr Shenton Chew on 'Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery - A new paradigm'. After presenting an overview on glaucoma including the symptoms and signs, Shenton analysed a series of glaucoma case studies with the guests followed by an interactive quiz.
Next, Dr Yvonne Ng spoke about 'diagnoses you do not want to miss'. Yvonne discussed previous cases she had been involved with and the appropriate course of action for each. She went on to share useful tips when dealing with challenging cases, and highlighted the symptoms and other factors that need to be taken into consideration for each individual patient.
To conclude the evening Dr Dean Corbett spoke about Auckland Eye's research projects and our revolutionary breakthroughs that have taken place in the field of Ophthalmology over the last 25 years. Dean went on to present a variety of interesting clinical cases, which were reinforced with another interactive quiz at the end.
After everyone had submitted their answers for each of the presentations, the winners of our quiz were announced and awarded fabulous prizes. There was some very strong competition with very little separating the top three scores. We had a fantastic turnout and with such an energetic vibe in the room, this year's North Shore Insight was a another huge success. Thank you to all our lovely guests and for your enthusiasm and participation last night. We look forward to seeing you all again at our future Insight educational events!
