Before Your Surgery

We will inform you if fasting (no food or drink) is required before your surgery. This depends on the type of anaesthesia you will receive. Detailed instructions will be included in your surgery letter.

You may receive a prescription for eye drops to use before surgery.  If needed, instructions will be provided.

Yes, please continue taking your usual medication unless we advise you otherwise.

• Surgical Health Questionnaire: Submit at least one week before your surgery day.
  • Adult health questionnaire form 
  • Paediatric health questionnaire form 
• IOL Consent Form: If applicable, read, understand, and sign this form. Submit this to the nurse on the day of surgery.
• Consent to Surgery: Complete these consents during your consultation or on the day of surgery. This form confirms you have received all necessary information to make an informed decision about your treatment.

• You will receive your arrival time one week before your surgery.
• Please arrive at the surgical centre at the specified time.
• If there are any changes, we will notify you via text or phone call.

Your arrival time is specific to your procedure. To ensure a smooth process for everyone, we kindly ask that you arrive at your scheduled time. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate changes due to location or traffic concerns. Thank you for your understanding.

Please:

• Wear comfortable clothes.
• Do not apply makeup
• Remove jewellery where possible.
• Remove all nail polish
• Follow instructions in your surgical letter as to when to stop eating and drinking.

Auckland Eye does not provide interpreting services. Please arrange for an interpreter or support person to ensure effective communication.

ADHB Surgery Patients: If you need an interpreter, please request one to the surgical booker. Your interpreter should arrive at the same time as your scheduled arrival on the day of surgery.

If your having a General Anaesthetic or IV Sedation the Anaesthetist will phone you prior to your surgical date to discuss your anaesthesia plan.
